The Trager ® Approach is a way of learning and teaching through movement.
It is a unique and gentle approach for improving movement dysfunctions and breaking up of habitual patterns of muscular tension and tightness that have accumulated over the years in our bodies.
During the table work the practitioner uses the language of movement and touch; gentle rocking, swinging, stretching and compressions are applied to the body to communicate a sense of well being, a sense of ease and lightness in moving our own bodies. The practitioner works within the person's pain-free range to provide a sense of how it feels to be able to move freely, effortlessly and pain free.
The Trager ® Approach helps release deep-seated physical and mental patterns and facilitates deep relaxation, increases physical mobility, and mental clarity. These patterns may have developed in response to accidents, illnesses, or any kind of physical or emotional trauma, including the stress of everyday life.
A system of gentle, free flowing, dance-like movements is also taught in a session to reinforce the feeling experienced during the table work.
The goal of these self care movements is to increase the client's self awareness and provide the client with tools to increase his/her ability to move with ease and/or to manage pain or discomfort.
The Trager ® Approach will benefit CEO’s, artists, singers, dancers, designers, writers, and other careers with high demands on concentration, creativity and innovation. It will benefit athletes who wish to improve and optimize their performance. It will benefit those whose mobility is impaired due to accidental injury, disease, or pain. It will benefit companies who wish to decrease absenteeism and increase the well-being of their employees; by reducing muscular body tension due to work related stress and reducing repetitive motion injuries.
® Trager and the Dancing Cloud Logo are registered service marks of the Trager Institute
"I only wish that the Trager Approach had existed while I was dancing. I have never felt a better sense of freedom of movement and well-being as after my sessions with Karl. I highly recommend him especially to dancers and athletes."
William Thompson - Dance Instructor/Choreographer
"Karl has the ability to identify and pinpoint pain patterns in my body that may go back to tension, posture, ergonomics or other subtle imbalances. His treatment solutions go beyond office visits, he includes fun mindful movements, he calls mentastics, that reduce the wear & tear on my body."
Jody Tull - Be In Awe, Owner
"Trager work leaves my body with a new relationship to gravity. My neck grows, my chin lowers, my shoulders push back, my chest expands, and my knees become bouncy..... Karl's sessions help me to be more flexible in my body again; I feel young and fluid in my daily walks. I recommend Karl’s Trager work to anyone who likes to feel more balanced, more present and alive."
"The most immediate benefits were an increased energy level and a feeling of lightness akin to joy. Also, I was delighted to come away with a simple and effective 15 minute practice that I was able to easily work into my day. I continue to appreciate the healing effect of the relationship breath which allows for a daily emotional inventory and a way to deal with issues as they arise clearing and releasing energy for creative work"
