The Trager Approach

Discover an unique movement re-education approach that teaches the body a softer, a lighter, a freer way of being.

The Trager ® Approach is a way of learning and teaching through movement.

It is a unique and gentle approach for improving movement dysfunctions and breaking up of habitual patterns of muscular tension and tightness that have accumulated over the years in our bodies.

During the table work the practitioner uses the language of movement and touch; gentle rocking, swinging, stretching and compressions are applied to the body to communicate a sense of well being, a sense of ease and lightness in moving our own bodies. The practitioner works within the person's pain-free range to provide a sense of how it feels to be able to move freely, effortlessly and pain free.

The Trager ® Approach helps release deep-seated physical and mental patterns and facilitates deep relaxation, increases physical mobility, and mental clarity. These patterns may have developed in response to accidents, illnesses, or any kind of physical or emotional trauma, including the stress of everyday life.

A system of gentle, free flowing, dance-like movements is also taught in a session to reinforce the feeling experienced during the table work.

The goal of these self care movements is to increase the client's self awareness and provide the client with tools to increase his/her ability to move with ease and/or to manage pain or discomfort.
